Of all of our colleagues, we find much in common with the Building Services sector. Some of our most useful contacts since we started thinkingbricks have been with Mechanical and Electrical Services consultants, working together on key systems such as lighting control and systems integration.

With many residential and commercial installations requiring a standard level of networking for internet and telephone, as well as control for lighting and heating – it is easy to see how a professional expert can help to add value on a number of projects.

One recent link has been the Low Carbon emphasis of our clients. Controlling lighting and heating in the modern property can afford great financial and environmental benefits, and we are used to the systems that can make this happen in a project.

By dimming all the lighting circuits to 80% as a standard, or managing heating effectively over a number of independent rooms, we can put in place useful systems to bring real benefits in energy efficiency.

By developing simple control interfaces for customers or including an “all off” function for our audiovisual systems, we can encourage clients to keep using these systems efficiently too, when the project is complete.

Our design service ensures our schematics can be produced in a variety of formats to ensure they dovetail with the electrical and mechanical plans, and are clear for third parties to refer to for running cables etc.

Whether it is a site meeting with electrical contractors, or a client meeting to agree the systems involved, we deal with the practical aspects of making the finished installation work, project managing every aspect of our installation.

It is fair to say that many M&E companies will list audiovisual, IT, security and building control systems as a service, but cannot always make time to keep up with the fast pace of change and rapid product development that takes place in our field.
