We had just completed two projects in Central London, and the same main contractor introduced us to a signature property project they were building in North London, just within the M25.

The couple had received planning permission for a unique, family home and part of their brief was that they wanted technology integrated into the modern feel.

With video entry at the gates, through to audio for the pool area and automation for the AV system including a cinema room, the key was making the systems simple and user friendly for all.

The lighting scheme had been designed already, with modern, stylish fittings and a signature staircase spiralling from the basement to the top floors.

With such an expansive house, our role was to make the lighting work across the floors, as well as enabling whole house control from specific locations, such as the master bedroom.

In a private road, alongside the measures in place with the security contractor, we scoped out a video entry system, control of the front gates and a site wide CCTV system.

This included a staff annexe in the grounds, with full access to the main house system, as well as a dedicated AV control system.

With home entertainment important to the clients and their family, the multi room audio system covered all the key rooms, pool & gymnasium.

The TV distribution system distributes Sky, Apple TV and IPTV in HD to all the TV screens.

As a keen football supporter, the cinema room can be at it’s busiest on weekends for the match – with fixed projection screen, integrated speakers and a JVC D-ILA HD projector fitted into the acoustically treated ceiling.

Integrating the Lutron lighting means the room sets itself up, once the Play button is pressed, with the lights dimming down as the projector warms up for the perfect start to a family movie with the grandchildren.

The study has hardwired connections and local Wifi to enable the best possible home working environment, which we coordinated with the clients own IT and telecom specialist to ensure the highest security across the home network.

The Control4 system provides a simple, single way to access multi room music, HD TV and movies, video gate entry, CCTV camera views and lighting control for the whole house.

A discrete, clear touchscreen in the pool and spa area, to a portable version for the master bedroom touchscreen – simple system control is always to hand.

For simplicity for all users, a conventional handheld remote with either a big RED button to access favourite TV channels or internet radio sits alongside for visitors to the house.

The HD CCTV system, with night vision, access to the gate camera from the touchscreens and the automation of the lighting to enter night mode via its internal “world clock” ensures the house is always safe and secure. The ability to set the property into holiday mode via a Lutron keypad button ensures this is the case when the owners are away in Europe.

They can access the entire system from outside, via the Control4 4Sight service, and the system has been regularly serviced and supported since install, to ensure it is up to date.
