All the angles, covered

One of the directors from a main contractor, for whom we have completed several projects over the years, approached us to help with scoping out an AV, IT & lighting control specification for his new home.

Designed by the excellent contemporary architects, Gregory Phillips, he wanted to make sure he had all the possible technology aspects covered, ready for the future.

With a modern form, with key design features and a pool house separate to the main house – an initial need was for simple and intelligent lighting control.

Leading lights

The Lutron Homeworks QS system was chosen for the main reception areas, master suite and to provide control of external front and rear landscaping, with colour changing lighting by the pool installation company.

The keypads were specified to match the exact wall colours for a subtle, finish and engraved for simple selection of the lighting scenes.

With extensive glazing, integration of the lighting control keypads to control the Lutron Sivoia blind automation system helped with natural light & heat management in the entrance hall with it’s signature double height glazing as well as privacy, especially in the master en-suite and bedrooms.

The pool house and external lighting can be controlled from both the house and the pool itself.

Invisible installation

With a focus on uncluttered, modern interiors, the cabling was managed into a designated cabinet in the gym, with the Lutron Panels installed in the plant areas of both the main and pool houses.

Matched outlets for digital TV and satellite network provision to all rooms (and the roof), alongside CAT6 points for both smart TV / HD video access and enabling hardwired broadband & Wi-Fi access points.

A dedicated lighting control and network hub ensure there was upgrade potential for further local AV to the pool for music and Sky TV when required.

Small areas in key reception rooms were cabled for storing local AV equipment, and walls and cabinets were designed for TVs to be recessed and cabled discretely when required.

The final stretch - passing the baton...

Opening up connections to the Araknis network router & ethernet switches, twinned with our powerful Unifi nanoHD Wifi system, meant the client could be remotely supported by their company IT team.

This allowed for increased working from home, including video and voice meetings with their key clients, from all over the house!

Once the family had moved in, the active network and cabling allowed the seamless addition of the client’s own SkyQ main and streaming set top boxes, SONOS audio system and a Lutron Connect app to be installed on their smartphone to further adjust the Lutron lighting programming themselves.

An amazing property, a considered handover – futuristic and future-ready!
